Prince of Persia: Lost Crown dialog 5

Waiting for a platformer that respects your reflexes instead of padding itself with filler? Lost Crown strips the genre back to tight movement and layered combat, then wraps it in Persian myth.

Acrobatics meet time-bending powers

An action-adventure platformer from Ubisoft, part of the Prince of Persia series. Think acrobatic traversal spliced with time-manipulation powers that let you bend combat and exploration to your advantage.

How does the time-bending work?

You can rewind, dash, and set temporal anchors mid-fight or mid-jump. It turns tricky platforming sections and multi-phase battles into puzzles you solve with timing rather than brute force.

What is the mythological setting like?

Mount Qaf is a cursed citadel drawn from Persian lore — frozen waterfalls, sand-swept archives, and creatures pulled from legend. The world shifts as you unlock new time powers, making backtracking feel like a fresh route.

A late-night run that clicked

Around hour six, I had the citadel layout in my bones. One section — the Sunken Courtyard — had stumped me earlier because I couldn’t reach a high ledge. After unlocking the dimensional claw, I doubled back at 1 a.m., rewound a collapsing pillar, claw-grabbed the ledge, and landed in a hidden archive full of health upgrades. That quiet loop of spotting a locked path, filing it away, and returning with the right tool is what Metroidvania players live for, and Lost Crown delivers it without signposting every secret.

M1 Air stays smooth through particle chaos

On a MacBook Air M1, the game sits between 55 and 60 fps at default settings — even during the Shahdee chase where particle effects and screen shake spike. Load times from the main menu to gameplay hover around six seconds. I noticed no stutter after waking the Mac from sleep mid-session, and memory pressure stayed modest with Safari and Notes open in the background. One quirk: switching keyboard layouts mid-fight once dropped an input for a half-second, so I set my layout before launching now.

Move dash to a shoulder button early

  • Remap dash to a shoulder button. The default face-button dash works, but moving it to R1 keeps your thumb on jump and attack during tight platforming chains.
  • Turn off screen shake. The visual feedback is punchy, but during multi-enemy ambushes it muddies parry timing. You can toggle it in the accessibility menu.
  • Mark your map obsessively. Tap the map key whenever you spot a sealed door or a high perch. The game doesn’t auto-log every obstacle, so your own markers save backtracking guesswork.
  • Use the training grounds near the Haven. A safe spot with dummy enemies sits just left of the first hub — ideal for drilling parry windows and air combos before a boss run.

Good to know: the Mac build ships with English, German, Spanish and French voice tracks you can switch in the audio menu without redownloading.

Good to know: the Mac build is ARM-native, so it runs efficiently on Apple Silicon without Rosetta overhead.
